Time estimation is both an Art and a Science with respect to managing projects. Time estimation is a prediction of the amount of time (and resource) that will be required to complete a task.
Accurate estimates are critical to both managing a critical path and/or provide direction to the team on a) when a task is expected to be completed/ready for hand-off and b) prepare the Project Manager for potential execution bottlenecks. Mastering this important skill can result in projects running more smoothly.
